A week out today!

Hi Everyone - Hope everyone is doing well! I am doing much better. I was able to FINALLY come home from the hospital a couple days ago and I think I am begining to feel a little better. My surgery went very well but I ended up with pnemonia after and ended up in ICU. I am actually thankful for the pnemonia because at first they thought I had a blood clot on my lung. But in reality the bottom parts of my lungs had collapsed. Breathing is still a bit of a struggle and it limits the amount of walking I can currently handle but besides that I am tolerating liquids well, getting in those fluids, walking as much as I can and am happy to be on the losing side. Stacey, I developed the same thing a week out of surgery. It takes awhile to get to feeling "normal" again...but it will happen, be patient. Congratulations on the surgery being over...it's a good feeling to have it behind you. Liz Hillsboro

Hi Liz - Yes, I am happy to know that I am now on the losing side. I am very ready though to start feeling "normal." It is really hard for me to just sit around the house - not who I am but I know it is just a matter of time! Thanks for the support! Stacey

Hi Stacey, I read your post and congratulate you on getting home. I too live in Canton, Ohio and had my RNY on 7-26 (in W. Va). I say prayers for your speedy recovery. Linda

Congrats on your recovery! I had the same lung collapse episode after surgery myself. I was in for 5 days. Whew, what an event! Please just take it easy, and use your breathing monitor thingamajig (I hope they sent it home with you). It took me about 2 weeks for the ole lungs to feel alot better, but the monitor helped tons! You will be just fine in no time!! Take care and glad to see you on the losing side!! Caren
