seeking surgeon ~ any help would be appreciated

Please help me, im in the akron area and my choices are very limited, i have medical mutual for insurance so i cant use city hospital (Dr. Z) and Dr. Chylsta doesnt accept MM for bariatric surgery anymore .. I was hoping not to go to cleveland but its looking more like im gonna have to . thanks michele

Michelle im with ya i didnt want to go to cleveland either luckily Dr Z takes my insurance but i have heard nothing but good things about St Vincents they have an excellent program there my best friend went thru it last nov i believe she had Dr Patterson and a client had Dr Ben-Mir she is like 2 years out and doing well !!!! so i would defiinatly give it a look see and also keep checking back with the akron drs seem like this insurance stuff changes all the time hope i was a lil helpful Missy =-)

Michele, I had my surgery at University Hospital. They are the greatest. I would check the Medical Mutual site and see what surgeons accept your plan. I have Medical Mutual also but none of the surgeons at St. Vincent's took my plan. The hospital did....just not the surgeons. Here are the bariatric surgeon's from UH and St. V's. I have friends that went to St. V's and are doing great.....and of course I would tell you that UH is the best! Here goes: Linda Patterson Helmet Schreiber all from St. V's Aviv Ben-meir I.M. Sonpol Thomas Stellato John Jasper.....my surgeonm all from University Hospital Peter Hallowell All you have to do is go to Medical Mutual and look up find doctor....and look under your plan and they will tell you who takes your plan. sue, thanks for replying, after researching all day yesterday, i have finally figured out where i can go, I picked the dr's at St Vincents, they are only an hr away and they are alot closer than the bariatric clinic in groveport, (which wouldve been my 2-3 pick) ... i signed up for the seminar in sept, im so excited ... michele

Michelle, I agree with sue about University, but its your choice.I have heard alot about st v's the only bad thing that i heard was that they have alot of out of pocket expenses.Please be carefull rich
