Mount Carmel West Support tonight???

Hi Jaimee I wish I could have made it. My son started soccer tonight. But the meeting would have been a lot better than siting there listening to 2 kids ask me why I was fat over and over again. Of course, their parents pretended not to listen and then didn't correct them when I started to get annoyed. Although, one did tell her son, 10 minutes later, to use his manners - like he even remembered what she was referring to. I'm sorry, did that get me started? I can't wait until I won't have to put up with that anymore. Thanks for the mini support group meeting! Sharyn

I can recall several times when I was in a very similar situation. At the time I didn't stick up for myself. I guess I felt I deserved to be punished for being fat. In hind sight, I wish I had asked the offending childs mother why she didn't teach her child any manners. I think putting it back on the parent can be very effective. No one has the right to treat another that way and you really shouldn't allow them to. You are a beautiful person who is worthy of respect. Unfortunately, rude people tend to be rude to others no matter what they weigh. They'll always find something to comment on. Keep yer chin up. You're on your way to having major changes. second Monday in September I think. Usually it is the first one of the month, but because of Labor Day it was moved.

My experience was in a Cincinnati restaurant about 10 years ago. I was sitting with my friends having lunch and across the isle was a mom,dad and a 3 year old. The whole meal he kept saying ,Mommy,look at that fat lady and was pointing. I was sick. The parents I guess thought the new age is ignore it.WRONG/ I wanted to smack them all. I will never forget that meal. I would have taken my kids out and lectured them and they would never do it again. Two years ago my darling grandson came up to me and said his best friend always tells him his Mimi is fat. He had big tears in his eyes. I knew then what I had to do and I did it and he doesnt even remember me heavy, it got to me/
