Question about sleep study
Hello,
I'm new to the message boards and have a question for the group. I just completed the first night of my sleep study. The tech obviously couldn't tell me much, but did say they didn't find anything until REM sleep. I probably will have to go back for a second night, and am waiting for the call.
My question is, has anyone else had that experience? If so, what was the sleep issue? Most of the people I know who have had sleep studies showed apnea during the early stages of sleep.
Thanks a bunch!
Ellen
During my sleep study, I was allowed to sleep through the entire night. When the tech woke me in the morning, she said that the episodes weren't enough in number to put me on the cpap then, and that they only occured when I slept on my back. When the results came back, I had only episodes while on my back, and they only lasted 20 sec. before I resumed breathing normally. They considered this borderline, even though I had 86 episodes, because they corrected themselves after a short time. Hope my information helps.
I just got done with my second sleep study 3 weeks ago. I have moderate sleep apnea. So left me with the cpap. It is terrible. You can only breath out of your nose not your mouth feels like your smothering. I finally got thru a full nights sleep last night. I was so happy to wake up and see morning and see the mask still on my face. I really felt rested, I must admitt. I got the nostril kind. Is there anyone else on this board that uses that kind of mask. I like it because it is lighter. But took awhile to get use to the nose being plugged with plastic plugs. I am kind of concerned it may deform my nose. Other than that I do snore. And the second sleep study you will wear the mask. and know what I am talking about. If you have sleeping problems ask if you can take a sleeping pill. I got to take a sleeping pill and a nerve pill. So it helped. Take care and good luck

I had my sleep study last May and was told I have an episode every 7 minutes during stage 2 sleep but never reach stage 3. They gave me my cpap and I had to stay over again so I could use it. The tech had to come in repeatedly to have me put the mask back on. I never could fall asleep easily with the mask and then only managed to keep it on less than 2 hours per night. Its been 16 months now, and I can't stand that stupid machine-stopped using it completely. (NOT RECOMMENDED) I am scheduling another study, hopefully with 70+ pounds lost, I won't need the dang thing anymore.
Good luck with yours!
