I'm finally switched and back home
Hi everyone,
I was released to come back home to Columbus today. I had my duodenal switch surgery last Thursday and was released to go to a hotel in Dayton on Monday. I am doing very well. Although the surgery was open, I had very little pain. My worst time came this past Tuesday when I woke-up with an anxiety attack. It was very scary and I didn't know what it was all about. My doctor said it is quite common due to lots of hormones being released into the system from fat cells. They prescribed Ativan for bedtime and it's fine now. I also have restless leg syndrome, but I had that pre-op too. It is preventing me from getting restful sleep. My PCP has increased my meds to that, so I'm hoping it will make a difference soon.
I had the surgery at Kettering Hospital in Dayton and they were wonderful. Many of the nurses have had some type of weight loss surgery too and it sure makes a difference in how much more empathetic they are to the patients.
The fun part is that I was weighed last Saturday and had gained over 10 lbs due to the liquids. I expected it, so it didn't bother me. But, I was weighed at the Dr.'s office today and I've lost 23 lbs. since then. I know, still mostly liquid, but still fun to see the number go down for once.
Thanks to you all for your wonderful messages of support and love.
It's great to be home and to finally be a loser!
Hugs,
Denise
