New In Town

Hi everyone! I guess I'm the new one in WLS Town. I just signed up today although I have visited this site many times. I have considered WLS for about three years. As I'm sure you all know, at this point I've tried everything. I researched this from every direction and decided (w/ great support from my Dr's) this is it. Barix called me for a consult in Oct., went the 26th. Got things rolling w/ my PCP and Specialists. Insurance request went in on June 24th (Friday) and we had an answer on July 28th (Monday). Went to Barix on Wednesday July 6th, and am scheduled for Open RNY on Wednesday July 27th. I am so excited, I can't wait! Please pray everything goes well. I had a horrible experience the last time I has open abdominal surgery. My incision busted open and I was down for almost 4 months and it was a little over a year before it finally all healed. I have been assured they do things different now, but I still have that tiny bit of fear in the back of my head. Dr. Viglianco from Barix of OH is doing my surgery, he has made me much more comfortable. 10 more days and my new life will begin I guess I'll post later. Any advise is more than welcome!!! Tabatha, Good luck! I know that I had a consult at Barix and was very impressed. Although I was unable to have my surgery there due to insurance reasons, I know that you will be very glad you did. Don't dwell on what happened in the past. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries and they all went smoothly. Please feel free to email me if you would like. Linda

Welcome aboard, Tabatha! Dr. Viglianco made me a loser on 6/23/05 and I love him for it! Barix and Dr. Vig have changed my life and it's been a wild ride, that's for sure. Please don't go down the wrong path like I did, I wasn't taking in enough liquid, and I got dehydrated which lead to constipation. Just do what you're told and you'll be fine. I trust Dr. Vig with my life (well, obviously!!) and I would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Julie Lombardy Akron, Ohio

Hello I had my surgery at Barix on April 26th. I had Dr. Barbara. They are all so great!! My birthday is on July 27th. I wish you a speedy recovery. At Barix they will make sure you are well prepared afterwards. I highly recommend you to buy some of there pro-stat 64 liquid protein for after surgery. It really helps out a lot with getting in your protein. You can even add it to your sugar free jello. Keep in touch with us. Hugs, Lisa
