Jewish Hospital Cincinnati?
Hi, I'm new here and this is my 1st post. Hope I'm doing everything correctly.
Has anyone had surgery with either of their surgeons, Dr Fegelman or Dr Korlitz? I'm just starting to look into surgery (Lap Band) and they are on my list of covered providers. I've read lots of good things about Dr Trace Curry, but I don't think he's covered. I have Great West Insurance (PPO) I haven't found much about Dr Fegelman or Korlitz though. I'm going to an informational meeting with them on July26.
Hope to meet some new friends!!

I do alot of coaching of patients that belong to Jewish Hospital weight loss center..
Dr. Fegelman is a good guy but I am not impressed with the center. I meet with a few of his patients once in awhile just to sit around and talk, they are not happy there and told Dr. Fegelman they will not go back to the center, instead each one weighs in with their own PCP's office.
There is an obesityHelp conference in August..most surgeons from the area will be there, they are approachable and very down to earth. Dr. Curry will be spending the day along with Dr. Sonnanstine of St. LUke in N. Ky. as well as Dr. Dwayne Smith and Dr. Gersin of UC. .
good luck

If Dr. Curry is covered I would strongly recommend him. I had surgery July 11 at Deaconess in Cincinnati and had absolutely fantastic care. Dr. Curry, as well as being a skilled surgeon is kind, caring and always accessible. He will answer questions on their site on the net. His staff is easy to work with and will do WHATEVER is needed to get you approved for surgery. Erin, the dietician, is a great help and lots of fun too!!
Good Luck Tina

Hi Tina!
I met with 4 surgeons before making my decision. Dr. Korelitz was one of them. He's not exactly the friendly type, in my opinion. I couldn't see him having much bedside manner. That was not something I was willing to accept. I went with Dr. Curry and have been banded for one week now. I am THRILLED with my decision. I have never been taken better care of. I wasn't willing to have someone cut me open and then never see him again. I was telling my husband about my one-week post op appt today and he said "did you meet with Dr. Curry?" I said, "of course!" and he said "well, I thought they'd have the nurses do all of that." I said "that is EXACTLY why I picked Dr. C. I don't want to be cut open and then dumped!" My mother and husband were not exactly what you would call "supportive" of this surgery... until they met Dr. C. on the day of my surgery. My mom said "Now I get it" and she has been nothing but supportive since. Dr. C. has met with me since the beginning, Erin is absolutely wonderful... I just can't say enough good things about them. SO, if you can... please meet with them and consider Deaconess as one of your options. You won't regret it. Good luck on this amazing journey.
