Pre op meals

I'm going to be having my surgery on July19th. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions of what they ate the day before. My physician gave me a handout that just stated to have light meals on the day before surgery and then nothing by mouth after midnight. My idea of light would be soups or clear liquids. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Amy, congrats on your upcoming date. As for diet I know that we have a very strict diet to follow at Dr. Curry's office, we are on a full liquid diet for 10days before surgery to help shrink our livers. I have been told that with this diet there are less areas of possible complications. So yes, soups and clear liquids would be good, but thats my opinion. Good Luck ...Pam

Hi Amy, I ate Red Lobster....shrimp scampi and Shrimp alfredo.....wanted to make the last meal good!! I ended up only eating maybe 1/4 of it, I think because of nerves. I went thru OSU and they said eat lite, so I tried!! Best of luck on your surgery!! Tabitha

I had my surgery at Barix, and I was on clear liquids the day before surgery. I had sugar free popcicles, sugar free jello, broth, and crystal light. Hugs, lisa

We ate at Salvi's a local restaurant here in Columbus for our last "supper", it's where my husband and I had our first business lunch. I don't recall being told to eat light. Not that you asked but, I highly recommend that you get your gas-x ready, Amy - you'll probably need it. I know I did.
