Problem with OSU
OSU is awesome... I would never even consider going anywhere else... Dont get me wrong I am not saying that there arent good docotors out there...OSU did everything for me... yes sometimes it seems like it takes forever to get things done, but hang in there.... Dont give up now... You have to remember that Kathy and Shannon have ALOT of people that they are taking care of...I am sure there are alot of people trying to get approval... be patient... you didnt get over weight over night... you have come too far to give up now... when it is right your time will come... Trust me I have been there... OSU is a great program and I am sure after you get done you will see the same way I do... Good Luck in your journey and God Bless
I second your posting that OSU is Awesome! It took time to get things all into place but it was worth the weight. I think we are so anxious to get this surgery we expect all to be as eager as we are about getting everything processed and ready.
By the way Paula...you need a new picture! Hope things are going well.

hmmm seems i have found out that they definately lie in that office. i was scheduled originally to be Dr Needleman's patient but got a call a few months back that He had stopped doing surgery so i would be sent to Dr Mikimai (i probably spelled that wrong) then i went to Him and He said i was sent to the wrong Dr because He only does scopic surgery on people less than 500lbs. it seens from what i have just read Dr Needleman is indeede still doing surgery. that is the lie i am referring to.
Now i am supposed to see Dr Muscarella (sp?). i do hope this goes better. i have been getting what i feel is a run around from them for over two years now.
Now i am being held back by a case of shingles, but that is neigher here nor there. i have also encountered a rude member of the office staff up there i cant remember the name now but it was the woman that called at one point and told me i wasnt a candidate for surgery then a week later got a letter telling me i needed to see a diatician and lose 50lbs. then i had to buy the L.E.A.R.N manual and do visits with someone here until i did that the whole way though.
i agree that Shannon is wonderful but some of the others are really lacking.
Ruth,
The story with doctor Needleman and Mikami are probably the same they do lap RNY on patients with lower BMI...while Dr. Cook and Muscarella do the high risk/high bmi open RNY patients. So there obviously was a mix up but maybe when they said Needleman wasn't doing surgery they meant, open surgery...or there might have been a time when they stopped assigning him patients because of the number he already had.

Shelly,
Sorry to hear that you have experienced some negativity. I personally had nothing but good experiences with the office staff. I feel certain that Shannon would be disappointed to hear that someone felt that they had not been addressed properly.
This is a bad time of year to schedule. I know from personal experience I was approved on June 1 and it took me the better part of 3 weeks to get an appointment that ended up happening toward the end of July. Pack in a vacation, the yearly bariatric conference for surgeons and some other scenarios that prevented me from getting with him, and then my date was set and when I returned that afternoon to pick up paperwork it had been moved back an add'l 3 weeks.
It all worked out in the end. I hope you feel better, and if you feel strongly, I'm sure that Shannon would be interested in your feedback. I'm 110% pleased with OSU, and I hope that in the end you will too.
