Questions?
Hello everyone.
I just have a couple of questions.
First I go see Dr. White for my initial consultation on the 12th of July. I have already been approved by my insurance, seen the therapist, started a work out routine, seen the phyc., and have an appt with the dietician on the 15th of July.
Now my question is with me already being approved do i still have to lose a certain amount of weight before the surgeon will do the procedure? And if so how much are they talking?
I have been on almost every diet known and I lose the weight but gain what I lost and some back quicker than i lost it without even trying. I am not a big eater and have been cutting carbs for over a year now. I even stopped drinking pop and when I do drink it I only drink diet caf free. I just finished a 3 month diet with my PCP (the 5th one the last 3 year) and lost 35 lbs then gained it back while still on the diet. Maybe i am getting nervouse for nothing. But if I am approved and doing everything I can will that stop them from doing the procedure if I don't lose the weight before surgery?
Sorry for all the questions but I keep reading about people having to lose 30 or more lbs before the surgeon will do the procedure. And that scares me that it might be something that stops my surgery.
I didn't have to lose anything, that was not a pre-req for my surgeon. So, to answer your question - it all depends on your doctor. I would try and read some of the profiles from others who have had him, to see if you can get an idea before you actually see him on the 12th. Otherwise, you'll have to just wait it out and find out when you get there.

hi Roquettea,
I didn't have Dr. White, and I'm sorry I don't know what his requirements are. If you find Vickie Wade's profile and drop her a line, she'll know.
I had to be on a liquid diet for 10 days previously, not to loose weight (but did) but to shrink the liver in case it was fatty. Fatty livers are the reason most Dr.s want patients to loose weight prior to surgery. LAP is hard to do when that things in the way.
Hay Vickie,
Thank you so much for your insight. I just finished reading your profile when you emailed me. WOW You are such a stong wonderful woman. I can't beleive that you had to go through all of that just to get healthier. WOW. And here I am complaining cuz I might have to do a liquid diet before surgery. I know that I would have given up a long time ago. Well anyways congratulation on your loss and with everything you have went through I know I can handle a little liquid diet with no problems. The 12th can't come quick enough. I can't wait to be able to do some of the things that I have wanted to for years.

Your Welcome.
MY goodness did you bring snacks to read my profile? I've been updating it for over 3 yrs now.. (yes I know there are area's where I didn't update)
Ya my motto is, what don't kill me will make me stronger.
No I'm not into experimenting (any longer.. when I was young... well?)
I didn't think I could do a liquid diet either, and I was starving 5 days into it, but nobody told me that cream soups counted.. here I had been just doing liquid, broth, water, etc.. creamed soups make it much easier!
hugs to my new friend (((((((Ketta)))))))
