Surgery Date!!
Tammy,
Congrats on the scheduling of the surgery. Hope you use the time before surgery to continue to research the choices you have made and formulate a plan for post op. The surgery only changes the size of your tummy and re-routes some of your bowel to change the absorption of nutrients. The biggest changes you will have to make are in your head.
When I was waiting to have my surgery, I read everything I could get my hands on so I was prepared and would know what to expect.
Attend meetings, read the internet, get cookbooks for posties, start looking into supplements, compare prices and tastes. Make a list of websites that you can easily access for information and put them in your favorite places on your computer.
Start making it a plan to exercise at least 3 times a week. Rid your pantry of all of the "evil spirits" and start collecting those things you will need to have handy after surgery. Like Crystal lite, Splenda or other sugar free sweeteners. Collect SF recipes and look into high protein recipes or start converting your favorite recipes now into SF and adding protein to them.
After surgery is when the real work starts, be prepared and you will be successful. Attend meetings regularly, it's that involvement that keeps you honest and keeps you on track.
Good Luck and we are here when you need us.
Suzie

First thanks to everyone for all the encouragement.
Suzie thanks for all the advice. Trust me Im not one to jump into anything and have been researching this for almost 3 years. To answer someones question. I will be having surgery at WPAFB Medical Center. Being part of the military community has helped greatly in the quest for surgery. They have a wonderful program here and monthly support group meetings that my doctor attends. They actually have two meeting one for everyone and one for those who have had the surgery. The support has been great. Once again thank You all.
Tammy
PS
Dawn glad to hear you are doing well.
