I have a few questions for you guys

Rich, I think you will hear Cathy and the Dr.'s say that they had a patient go back to work in 4 days! But it depends on the type of work you do. I think that generally they have you take off 4-6 weeks. Especially if you do much physical labor. Even though you might have lap your internal organs have been through a lot! If you still have your gall bladder they will put you on actigall (tastes nasty! I put mine in s/f applesauce) and depending on your iron count will probably put you on Natachews (prenatal vitamins)...they aren't too bad. Don't be afraid to ask Dr. Hallowell your questions....they are all so nice and would do anything for us! Hope to meet you in August! Sue

I was in the hospital for 18 days Rehab facility for 21 days Returned to hospital for ulcer 9 days I was away from home from 1/27/05 to 3/16/05. Being as large as I was moving around after surgery was very difficult and I had to have physical therapy to regain my strength to become mobile again. "and finally are there any other new medicines that you have to take since you had the wls? " Nexium for my ulcer .

Hi Richard! Well, I guess I am at one extreme ... I only stayed in the hospital one single night. Went home early the next day (prefer to lounge at home - if you could call it that). I have a desk job and only missed 2 weeks of work. Truthfully was pretty dragged out by 5pm the first few days - but everyone is different, and their procedures are all individualized, and their pre-surgery health varies from person to person, as well as age and general fitness, in addition to co-morbidities... Thank all of you wonderfull people for answering my questions...I think somepeople i know were just trying to scare me out of having it done.they tried to tell me that i'd have to be out of work for 3 months and have to take some kind of special medicine... oh well i guess that its a good thing that you all are here.. thank you thank you sue i'll be there in august rich
