hello everyone
hi everyone i am Ruth and i have been posting on the main board. i got a message in reply to my question of the day post from Vickie and she invited me here to talk to others from Ohio.
i couldnt find that post on the board anymore to thank her for the invitation and the answer to my post so i thought i would just post the thanks here. thank you Vickie.....smiles
i live in south central ohio and am going to have my surgery at OSU with Dr Muscarella.
i have been in the process for two years now and hope to have the surgery before the end of the summer...i have been told it wont be long after this appointment. i find it frustrating that part of the reason it has taken so long is that i had to have a psychiatric appointment here in my county, and a cardiologist and a pulmonary study but now i have to repeat all of that with another set of doctors in columbus, which is a two and a half hour drive. it is very frustrating it took so long to get those appointments down here and now they are not good enough.
then they started giving me a rough time because of my weight and decided i had to lose weight before i could have the surgery and i had to buy the LEARN Manual and start working on it meeting with a nurse each week because a dietician doesnt do home visits i have lost 51lbs in 16 weeks and am still losing. i now have a surgeon to meet with. he is the second one, the first one they sent me to after Dr Needleman stopped doing the surgeries. so they said, was for a Dr that only does people under 500 lbs because he only does scopic surgeries, but i dont qualify because i weigh more than that.
strange it feels like the age old weight discrimitation from the people that are to help save my life by doing the surgery for weight loss. i am becoming very frustrated. i just hope Dr Muscarella doesnt throw another monkey wrench into the machinery and stall me off even longer. if they keep on i wont be a candidate for the surgery because my health keeps getting worse. sighs....
oh well what started out as an self introduction is distinctly starting to sound like a whine. i hope everyone doesnt have the problems getting the surgery that i have. from what i have seen on the boards here it doesnt seem like it.
nice to meet you all.....smiles
Hi Ruth,
I am Rocquetta. Vickie is wonderful, isn't she?
She has alot of information that was needed by me and she asked me to come to the Ohio message board also.
What ever you do don't give up. I am so sorry that they are taking so long to get everything together for you. It seems like they would have some compassion for us. Maybe they should get some of the people from this message board to run the office and do the nursing for them. I bet they would have better results with customer service.
Remember we are here for you. No matter how much you sound like you are complaining. It will be our turn soon and we will need you just as much as you need us.
My prayers are with you.

Your Welcome
Glad to see you made it on over here.
It's ok to whine, vent, cry here, we've all been there, or going through it ourselves, this is what "support" is all about.
Believe me I sure did my share of it, it took me over 5 years from the time I started researching surgery, before I finally got my "tool". Long story, but most of it is on my profile
hugs and prayers,
