? What's the best form of birth control ?
Do to fertiliy issues I haven't had to use anything for 10 years, but since having my surgery I didn't want to take a chance. Anyways, I use the Nuvoring - they have a website if you want more info. It is a round ring that you insert into your vagina - where is for 3 weeks and then take it out for 1 week while you have your period. I was kind of leary at first, didn't know if I would like having the ring "in" all the time. But I don't even know it is there and I put it in and don't worry about having to take anything.
krystal, there are so many methods of birth control until it might be a good idea to talk to your OB/GYN or area Planned Parenthood Center to see what your options are and whats best for you since surgery. Also, if you and your husband are sure you don't want anymore children the thought vasectomy comes to mind. Hope this info helps.

I have the Mirena IUD. I have six children and am trying to get the gastic surgery and didn't want to take any chances. I read up on this and found it was right for me. It is good for 5 years, just a little discomfort when inserted in the office and there's nothing you have to do.It does release a hormone and your periods are lighter with less cramping and by a year out you may only spot at period time.,..I don't know what you've heard about IUDs but everytime something is posted about them someone emails that they abort the baby if you get pregnant. That is not true, especially with this one..Read the Mirena website to see if it is right for you.
The best form of birth control is no SEX..but we all know thats not going to work..
Anyway, have you and your husband talked about one of you having (HIM)..snipped..its really easy for a man and only takes a few days to heal, unlike us girls who have to be in bed for a few weeks...anyway..thats my two cents..well maybe 3...Pam

I havenent had surgery yet but i was also concerned about becomeing preg once i started losing weight and discussed it with my family doc he put me on the pill for now just to be safe and said right after surgery he is going to switch me to a patch probably since the body doesn't absorb pills as well afterwords
