Looking for help in Toledo....
All I can say and my opinion is Dr.Trace Curry is wonderful and worth the trip. He will help you with everything. Even a place to stay after the 2 night stay. They have rooms right on the upper floors to stay until you are ready to go home. I would travel to the ends of the earth to have him as my surgeon.
I wouldn't mine the travel to have a great surgeon...my concern is that if I would run into complications...I have heard some stories that other doctors will not help and you will need to travel for emergency cases as well as post op appt. I would like to try something closer...Thank you I will keep him in mind...
I was referred to Dr White through my PCP for a hernia and at that time I asked him about the WLS. That is when he gave me the number to Kristi Montague, she is the Bariatric Coordinator with Dr. White, and she gave me a call back within 2 days with a seminar date. The waiting list was about 2 months long but she was able to fit me into the one in June. After that I turned in my paper work for insurance on the 20th and by the 21st they accepted me. Now I have an apt tomorrow for physical therapy, one on the 12th of July with Dr. White, and then my first of 2 dietician visits on the 15th of July. I have Kristi's number if you need it.
Hi Amy,
There is ONLY 1 RNY surgeon in Toledo, and that is Dr. Patrick White. There are 2 LapBand Dr's @ St. Luke's Hospital, other than that, Toledo is void of WLS surgeons. Here is a link to all the Dr's in Ohio, http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showdocs.phtml, some of these might not be here in Ohio any longer or doing Bariatric's though.
I live in Toledo and went down to Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati, worth it? Heck yes, he gave me a tool to help me get a second chance on life.
yes... I cannot lie.
However my case I guess is kinda rare. Well not real rare, but not norm.
I had my surgery 11/22/05, my spleen got nicked during closing, so I ended up having to have it removed also. I got an infection, which lead me to be hospitalized 2 times in 12 days (I was only out for 1 day came back to Toledo and was sent back to Cincy to my surgeon from ER in Toledo). I have seen my surgeon 1x since then and that was in Dec., because Cincy is a long ways to drive in the winter we had. I then started a job that keeps me busy 7 days a week. My PCP has been in charge of most of my aftercare, (i haven't had any real problems since initial one, just 1 sinus infection..well and falling 1x..)
Dr's C's just a phone call or email or MB away too if I have any real concerns I need to address to him. His aftercare program is good, I'm the one that's failed it.
I attend Dr. White support group, so I have a local group to attend. My PCP's been great, he's really educated himself on the whole weight loss surgery thing since I 1st brought it up to him 2+ yrs ago. I edumacated a lot of it to him...
but true! As I did others too.
I am planning on seeing you in your office before the conference in August though Dr. C!
