DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER?

Hello- I am wondering if Ohio Medicaid still pays for WLS? Some people have said that they still do if it is a medical necessity- which it is; yet others have said they don't pay for it ever anymore. I live near Cincinnati; Columbus; and Dayton ( all are about 3 hours away). Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. 06-22-05

Paula, Ohio Medicaid will pay although it's not easy. First of all you need at least 2 comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, or arthritis. If you haven't been tested for sleep apnea I would recommend it. Next they like to see your BMI at or above 50, although I have seen cases approved in the high 40's.
