Crazy Cravings
Thanks for the heads up! I really have no intention of eating beef jerky. I'm just craving it for some reason. I will be on full liquids for 2 more weeks then I move to puree. I'm even afraid to move to pureed foods! Are you feeling better after your corn fiasco? I love corn but had trouble with it even preop. I don't think I'll ever try it. I wonder what it is about rice that is so difficult for post ops to tolerate? I appreciate all the advice I get from all of you who have been there!
Thanks,
Jen

Hi Jennifer,
I had beef jerkey at about 4 months out and as long as I ate small bites and chewed it to death, it was okay. I took it with me on a trip, since I knew that it would be hard to find restaurant food that agreed with me. I also eat corn and rice all the time. Guess everybody's pouchie is different. It's hard to make yourself chew up something that is already so small, like rice.
Have to admit, I have probably tried different foods than many because of my milk and egg sensitivities. Can only have tiny, occasional servings of either or I get sick, so I turned to other foods, usually in search of something to mix with a protein source.
Still have a very rough time with chicken and steak, but I can eat a little bit of fried pork chops (does that make any sense?), about 1/4 to 1/3 of a chop. Can eat small amounts of hamburger. Shrimp or fish usually agrees with me.
My biggest problem is STILL eating too fast. That is a hard habit to break, at least for me! I'm 6 months out and still find myself wolfing down my food. And THEN I really pay. Well I didn't mean to blab for so long!
Good luck!
