WAY Frustrated by Insurance - Advice anyone?
Hi All - My submission to Aetna PPO for laparoscopic RNYwas rejected last week. They stated the documentation was inadequate. My surgeon's office is appealing and has assured me that, based on their experience with Aetna, that I will be approved. However, I'm really frustrated and feeling pretty low right now. I have jumped through every single hoop I've been told to - Support group attendance, Dietary Consult, Psych Eval, etc. I've got co-morbidities, artritis, PCOS, etc. I'm accustomed to being very proactive in things affecting my life, and this just seems to be out of my control right now. So far, the process has taken 4 months. My company seems to change insurance carriers every year, so even though we're only half way through the year, I feel like the clock is ticking - I certainly don't want to start over, or worse, find out it's not covered at all! Any advice anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated -Thank you all!

Hi Karen,
I know that the process of being denied and waiting on appeals is a stressful process that many have to encounter in this journey. I have seen in different profiles where many appeals were overturned due to perserverence of not giving up and not taking no for an answer. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Karen,
I agree with Georgiann...you must keep up the good fight. I had a horrible time with my insurance until finally (after more than 9 months) my denials were overturned...on the positive side of this, all the time spent battling the insurance really made me POSITIVE that this was right for me. I was SO ready to have the surgery this past May I was not nervous at all.
Insurance Co. DO want you to give up...they figure if you give up, some one else with your plan will hear about it and not even try. Please don't give up...it is worth it.
