Dr. C or an experience lap band patient
I need some advice. I am scheduled for my first fill on 6/28. My people have me on mushies until the date of my fill. I am reading that you should try some solids before you fill to be sure they can be tolerated. Anyway, I have been trying some things. I can eat alot, but stop because I know I should. I'm sure I could eat a regular portion, not the 1/2 cup meal they tell me I should. Some things do, however get stuck in my throat ... scrambled eggs, some meat, bread (of course). I've PB'd twice. What exactly does restriction feel like? I just cannot justify the food getting stuck when I am by no means feeling full.

Kari,
Every surgeon is different, but we have our patients do 1 week of clear liquids, 1 week of pureed, then 3 weeks of soft solids, then we do our first fill.
Having said that, I would do what your surgeon says. It sounds to me like your a little restricted already, with the fullness in your throat and the PB's. You definitely don't want to overeat then end up with forceful vomiting and a slipped band.
Good luck,

Thanks so much for your reply. It just worries me that food is getting stuck in my throat. I guess I didn't know my throat would be effected in this way. I just get a little nervous because I was my surgeons 2nd band and the 1st was done the same day. The aftercare is through a doctor's office, not the surgeons.
Again, thank you for your response. It is truly appreciated!
