Does papaya enzyme help?

There seems to be a lot of people suffering from this esophegal spasm syndrome--including me. Does anyone know if Papaya enzyme helps with this problem? I heard someone speaking about it but did not know the accuracy. Thanks, Marcia P.S. If it is helpful do you know how it should be taken--with food, before or after a meal???
