Will it ever stop?
Julie,
Sweet girl, I am sorry you are having pain. I'll tell you my experience, although we know everyone is different.
I had lap RNY in December. For about 3 weeks, I had pain, especially on the left side (which, as you know, is where they do most of the work). It just kinda gradually subsided and by about 3 weeks out, it was mostly gone. I went back to work at 2 weeks out and so I stopped my liquid pain meds right before that. Only took them occasionally til then.
(One thing to mention, I had an infected incision at 10 days out - that was kinda painful but only for a couple of days then the doctor fixed it in his office - so I'm not counting that)
JMO, but I've heard that gentle walking is good for speeding up healing. I just walked around in my house, circular pattern, from room to room (probably looked pretty funny) but wasn't up to walking outside in the snow at that time.
One caution - if your pain is severe, call the doc right away.
Sending you healing wishes and good thoughts,
Hugs,
Kitty B.

Thanks so much for all of your replies. I have been walking so hopefully that will speed things up.
Kitty, I think my anatomy is wrong; my major pain is on the right side. This works for me since I am left handed.
Cindy, Kitty and Julie, I have been following your journeys and hope to do as well as all of you.
My sister took me shopping for the first time today. I am glad I did but it is amazing how tired we get from something that had been so easy in the past.
