LOANS FOR BAD CREDIT
MY INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER GASTRIC BYPASS. I HAVE ALREADY MET WITH MY SURGEON AND COULD HAVE THE SURGERY IN ONLY 10 WEEKS. BUT, I NEED TO FINANCE THE PROCEDURE MYSELF. THE PROBLEM IS I HAVE BAD CREDIT WITH A BANKRUPTCY. DOES ANYONE KNOW A WEBSITE, OR A BANK IN OHIO THAT WOULD HELP?
I DO NOT OWN MY OWN HOME SO A HOME EQ. LOAN IS NOT AN OPTION.

Crystal,
Even though your insurance doesn't cover the surgery, you can get it approved due to it being "medically necessary" if you have any comorbidities. Try the insurance again. Use this website as a guide. Click on "your journey" and go through the steps listed under insurance approval and insurance troubles. Good luck. Luann
The lady at the insurance office told me that they told her it didn't. We also have 2 entire pages in our benefits book with all the exclusions just for types of weight loss surgeries, and things to do with weight loss surgeries. There are 3 other people in my office that want to have this surgery and are unable to get approval. My company wanted different insurance but the place that does our finances picked it and we have to have it, which sucks all of the way around.
Yes, unfortunately there is no possible way to overturn a direct exclusion. Especially when it's a larger company such as Anthem or United Healthcare. No amount of appealing or attorney involvment would help. In the contract, it is clearly stated as excluded and is the member's responsibility to know the benefits. Even if the procedure is medically necessary, it will never be covered without the benefit for surgical treatment of morbid obesity. I know this from personal experience.
