Liver enzymes are a group of different tests. The numbers that you are giving could be from one of those test but they don't mean much without knowing the whole story. By knowing which enzyme is elevated and by history, phyical exam, and other tests the doc can figure out what is causing the problem. Elevated enzymes can reflect inflammation, damage, scarring, alcohol abuse, or a blocked bile duct in the liver. Also some medications can elevate your enzymes. One of the enzymes is very sensitive and can tell the doc if there is an assault on the liver before there is any damage. That's a good thing. I'm sure that wls presents it's own set of problems to the liver but I'm not sure what they are except that the liver is involved with processing nutrients. Try a search on WebMd and see if you can get any info. Cathy
