Medical Bracelet!

The post I read about the medical bracelet-the helpful ones, not the flamers said the bracelet should say: Gastric bypass No NG tube No NSAIDS Must carry water The last one is really helpful in places that normally wouldn't allow us to take water but since we dehydrate so rapidly it is a necessity. this never occured to me and maybe can one of you explain the importance of haveing one? so i know if i need on after i have the surgery

IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE A MEDICAL ALERT BRACELET IN CASE YOU CAN'T TALK FOR YOURSELF. IF YOU ARE UNCONSCIOUS IT TELLS THE EMT'S OR ER ABOUT YOU. MY BRACELET CAME FROM A LOCAL JEWELERS AND ON THE FRONT HAS MY FULL NAME AND AN EMERGENCY CONTACT PHONE NUMBER. ON THE BACK IT SAYS :RNY GASTRIC BYPASS PT, NO N/G TUBE W/O SCOPE, NO NSAIDS, ALLERGIC TO PEN AND PLENDIL. I DIDN'T HAVE ROOM FOR MY DOC NAME AND PHONE NUMBER, BUT THAT WENT ON THE CARD INSIDE MY BILLFOLD. SHOULD THE ER INSERT A TUBE THROUGH YOUR NOSE AND INTO YOUR TUMMY AFTER SURGERY, THEY COULD PUNCH A HOLE IN YOUR TINY POUCH AND NOT KNOW IT. THIS BRACELET TELLS THEM TO LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU. IT CAN BE A NECKLACE OR A BRACELET. IT CAN SAY A LOT OR JUST TO LOOK IN YOUR PURSE FOR MORE INFORMATION. IT'S PRETTY IMPORTANT TO WEAR SOMETHING TO TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT THE NORMAL PATIENT IN SOME RESPECTS. BEING A FORMER EMT, IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THESE THINGS!!! HUGS, SUSIE
