Can anyone give me some suggestions of what I should pack to take along with me to Kettering Hospital? I have seen several posts that say a fan is nice, but they have ceiling fans in the rooms.

Michelle your day is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at Kettering and I was fine with the ceiling fan. It has several settings I just keep it on med and was fine. It's the pain pump that makes you hot I think so once that was out I was fine. Also the windows open that may help also. Robin W 11/13/2003 218/at goal

I would suggest you rake your own toothbrush and tooth paste, face soap and moisturizer, undies that are not tight and a pack of pads if you still have periods (surgery often brings along a friend! Your period!). A robe if you are modest, if not turning a gown around backwards makes for a fine robe. Also, don't bother with PJs, as a nurse it drives me nuts when pt's don't wear gowns, it makes everything sooo much harder. Also, if you are attached to your pillow brink it along as well. Good luck.

Michelle, Take some chap stick or vaseline. Your lips get real dry after surgery. Even a few ice chips don't help. Take some classical cd's or other soft relaxing music to listen to. It promotes healing when you are relaxed and comfortable. Enjoy the afterglow of knowing you made it and are finally on the losing side. Best of luck for a smooth sugery and an even smoother recovery. Kepp us posted on your progress. Luann
