Dr. Curry's insurance gal, Tracy, informed me that Ohio Medicaid is taking from 6-8 MONTHS for approval. What are some of the experiences that any of you other Medicaid people have had with the approval wait. I'm looking for a ray of sunshine. Is there anything that speeds up the approval process?

all you can do is wait it sucks but that all that can be done make sure you got everything in order before it's submitted course Tracy really knows her stuff she will make sure of that least you found this board you can research and read up meet new people so you are way ready when the day comes GOOD LUCK (i was going to have to wait the dreaded medicaid wait too but i got lucky and got medicare no wait with them)

Hi Theresa!! Yah sucks huh? I wish I could be that ray of sunshine but all I can be is another nasty dark cloud...my info got sent in last Sept and I'm STILL waiting!!! GRRRR!!!! They said that they would be making my decision either yesterday the 12th or June 6th. My nurse if supposed to be calling today to see if they did but even if they did that don't mean they'll tell her...they're aholes!! Vickie found a quicker way and you should try this too, as soon as that lady sends in all of your stuff to medicaid type up a letter (ask Vickie for help) and send it in to a state rep, she did and they helped her!! That could speed up the process. Otherwise don't hold your breath, oh and don't think YOU can call them and talk to them because they won't talk to you, they'll talk with the person who sends in your case, but even then they will be as rude as humanly possible..that's how they are with the nurse at my surgeons office and she's the sweetest lady ever..Medicaid SUCKS!!! I guess it used to be a couple month wait then went to a 6 month wait then last fall they 'got behind' they told me so now it's longer...this is all I can tell you and I know it sucks but that's how it is with medicaid..I'm sorry..but that gives you a while to finish up anything that you want done before surgery. I'm actually kind of glad I had all this time, when my stuff was sent in my baby wasn't walking, now he is and he runs and he can go up and down my stairs so when I get to have surgery I won't have to pick him up lol (he's 23lbs). If you think about things like that...then it's not so bad..again I'm sorry but this is the story about medicaid and how it all works. ~Tema

Is Medicare as slow? If you have Medicare as primary and Medicaid as secondary, do you still have to wait for Medicaid to approve if Medicare already approved? Lori
