Pre-op Test - with Dr. Maguire
The pre-op testing isn't that bad it's just a long day. You do have to drink that 'stuff' and they take pictures of your insides, that's the worst. I think they took around 15-16 tubs of blood. The blood gasses test hurts a little but not that bad. There are x-rays and ultra sounds, breeze. You will be showen how to breath after surgery and how far up you have to make the ball rise. The EKG heart test takes longer to set up than it does to do the test. You learn your way around Kettering really quick.
Good Luck,
Robin W
I agree with Robin, it's not that bad, just grueling because you do so much during the day of testing. There is also a class in teh afternoon that sort of helps you prepare emotionally for all the tubes, etc that will be sticking out of you and they will give you a tour of the floor. My class was conducted by Ann (not sure of her last name, but she was incredibly sweet and very helpful during my stay at the hospital).
and for the record, it's 16 viles of blood!
