Way to go, Tabitha! I agree with Kasey, there needs to be a support group close by for us North-West-Central Ohio folks! Has anyone called their surgeon to see if anyone in their office knows of local support groups for us. I had my psych eval yesterday & the psychologist recommended I call Dr. Curry's office about locating a support group. I've gotten a voice-mail the two times I called, but I didn't leave a message..... maybe I will tomorrow. Congrats again on your approval! NancyT

Thanks Vicki for the congrats! Sorry to hear about your sisters boyfriend, that is horrible......and he is still very young to have something like this happens!! Congrats Tabitha!! I got the same news yesterday. I had been following your journey because you and I had the same insurance...but mine changed to United Health Care recently and bam...I got approved without having to continue with the supervised diet. I am so happy for you! I kinda wish I'd went through OSU myself, but I am going with Barix Clinic in Groveport. I'll be sending good vibes your way and hope you get a surgery date soon. Denise

Denise, Congratulations!!! You picked a great place to have your surgery. Barix is top notch. You won't be sorry. Dr. S. is great. I had Dr. V. and I love him. Very caring place. Everything is large and comfy. Rooms are very comfortable. Kasey

Congrats to you too Denise! Isn't it wonderful? To tell you the truth, tues evening after I found out I was thinking.......what have I done? I kept thinking "I'm going to die if I have this surgery" it wasn't a good night, I also did a really bad thing and check out the memorial page on obesityhelp.com, wrong thing to do especially if your nervous about having surgery. I guess my big thing is I got 2 blood clots and congestive heart failure after my last surgery......so this is all scaring me. I did go see my therapist yesterday, which I found out she had the lapband put in 3 years ago from Dr. Needleman. Her hubby is an Internal Medicine Doctor and she talked to him about me, mostly because she is 8 months pregnant and don't want the same thing happening to her!! HE said that when you have surgery in the pelvis area it doubles your chances of having blood clots and since I'm having this done laproscopically then that lessens my chance of developing them too. I also talked to Paula today and she told me in the hospital she got a heprin shot before surgery and every 4 hours after up until she left the hospital, so for that reason I now feel confident that I do still want to have the surgery, I just can't wait till I can go talk to the doctor, I have sooo many questions!! Anyway, sorry this is long, but if your like me, you are having alot of mixed feelings about the surgery......its normal to be scared from what everyone I've talked to that has had surgery has told me!! I just thought if you knew what I was told then you would maybe feel better too!! Oh, I also found out that most of reason we are to eat protein first is protien is what makes our stomach pouch heal up fast! SO we have to make sure we get our protein to prevent leaks and ruptured!! Well again congrats on your approval and please keep me posted on your surgery date!! Love, Tabitha

Congratulations!!!! I fought for over 6 months with my insurance and it is a FABULOUS feeling to finally be approved!!! I am also seeing Dr. Mikami! My denials were overturned on March 12 and I have my consult on April 18...THIS Monday!!! I am so excited, it's like I have a hot date or something! I am so happy for you.... birthday for your son and sort of a "birthday" for your new life!!! Liz Hillsboro

Hi Liz Thanks for the congrats!! But congrats to you too!! I wish i was going to see Dr. Mikami Monday too! Oh well I should get my insurance letter tomorrow or saturday then once I fax it to in, I guess they call within 2 hours or so! Then I'll have my date to go see him!!"
