Self Paying information

Good Morning, I'm sitting here at Saturday school with a handful of students who are half asleep so I decided to take a little time and ask for help with self-pay information. I've gone through my insurance and the surgery is just not going to be approved due to a solid written exclusion. But I am sooooo committed now to having a healthier life that I determined to find a way to do this. So my question is..............are there any of you out there who have self payed that could share information with me. Any Doctors or hospitals that work with you on payments of any kind? Doctors who might be less expensive because you self pay? I am hoping to find a Doctor in Springfield, Columbus, Dayton, Cincy or parts inbetween. Please email me if you would like to share things off the message board. In the short time I have been a apart of this board, I am so grateful for the support and information. This is such a caring community. One day I hope to be on the losing side. Thank you for any and all information. Kelly

Hi Kelly! I don't think I can be of any REAL help in your quest for financial assistance from Doctor's or Hospital's. However, I recently met with Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati (ph# 513-559-2545) & of the three doctor's I've met he is the most reasonably priced & the one I've chosen for my surgery. Actually, Dr. Curry is my choice because I was the most comfortable & impressed by his presentation & "bedside manner." I picked up a brochure in his office (which I have since misplaced) which offered medical financing.... If I find it, I will email you the info. After many years of research I am finally having the surgery. Our insurance also has a solid written exclusion against this surgery, so I told my husband if he wants me around for his retirement (this summer) he needs to cash out one of his annuities to pay for WLS. This is the financial route we're taking. I understand Dr. Ronald Spier, in Springfield, is reasonably priced. I have a very good friend who had successful WLS performed by him & I had a couple of my doctor's recommend him. Good luck, Kelly! NancyT

I think Dr. Curry is still around $13,000 for the lap band. I don't know about RNY.
