Ok I am 9 months out and my very thin hair is not growing back. I have tried everything. I get enough protien, tried all the shampoos and rubs I can possibly use and my beautician says not a sign of hair. Now instead of a leg and arm flab job I am going to have a hair transplant lol. My part is getting lower and lower. I feel like a bald eagle.Any advice

I am 6 months out and have lost alot of hair. I was told to try Nixonal and I do not understand how a topical can give you more hair. I am just hoping that it will get better. I did use Aussie 3 min. miracle and it made it seem to be thicker?

Cindy, Hi, I was just to see Dr. Curry today, and Nancy the nurse was telling me that we can take zinc for hair loss. I don't remember the exact amount, but maybe you could give her a call on Monday. I don't know if it will help with regrowth or not, or if it is just a preventive measure, but I am going to call Monday to found out just how much we can take. I am only 5 weeks out and want to keep all of the hair I have....now if I could just find something for the memory loss... Good luck, and I hope it works for you! Mary

There is a line of products available through hair salons-they contain "Nioxin". It stimulates your scalp, hair follicles, etc. to promote new hair growth. I was also advised to take Biotin (it's in pill form)but I don't recall the dosage. Hope this helps! Jan

About the Biotin - my doc said 2400mg per day My hair is getting real thin, too. Got a hair cut and perm yesterday to try and "fluff it up" a little, and it does help. She did a very mild body perm and said try not to stress the hair at all, don't blow it dry, and of course I can't wa**** for 48 hours (yuck). My hairstylist recommended getting the Nioxin ointment-type stuff that you put on your scalp, she said the other stuff doesn't really do that much. I'm going to wally world today to get that, they sell it in the beauty salon. Good luck to my fellow baldies! Kitty B. RNY 12/13/04 251 / now 184 / goal 145

Hi! I'm glad to see the many responses to the hair loss problem. I'm starting out with rather thin hair (d/t hypothyroidism), so I don't look forward to losing any more hair after my surgery. I may break down & get a wig. As some of you know, my daughter had WLS in Dec. 2003 & lost a substantial amount of hair..... She always had thick, gorgeous, blonde hair but keeps it fairly short now & it's just now slowly coming back light brown. She has a trusted & knowledgeable hair stylist who has been treating & advising her as to remedies & they seem to be working. Good luck, Cindy! NancyT

Hi Kasey & Tabitha! I don't know of any support group meetings in the Lima area, but I recall awhile back, there were meetings in either Findlay or Bowling Green. I'll need to do more research & get back with you. Got a haircut today & my hairdresser encouraged me to see a Certified Hair Restoration Specialist & look into non-surgical, hair intigration therapy. Sounds kinda like a weave, but it's not. There's one here in Lima, so maybe I'll check her out after my surgery. Thanks again everyone for the product endorsements & tips on re-growing/keeping hair after WLS. NancyT
