Okay I guess my emails just aren't getting to you so I'll just ask you what I wanted to here since it's really (I don't think..) not too personal. Let me think what did I email you?? Oh I know I had read through your profile and was left wondering about a few things you had said, one was what did the paternity test say? Another thing was you said that Ohio Medicaid says you have to have a BMI of over 50, I dont and I had never heard that until I read your profile so now I'm worried beings my case is to be decided upon either May 12 or June 6... I am a diabetic but still my bmi is like low 40's I think, I forget what it is but I weigh 258 and am 5'4. Also I wanted to ask you for the name (I forget from reading ur profile) and address of the state whoever it was that you wrote to for help in your case, I'm only asking because if I get denied I will be appealing and when I appeal I will be writing to any and every state person that could possibly help me so any help you could give me on that would be great. I also wanted to tell you that you've done an awesome job with your weight loss and that I'm so happy that you finally 'won the battle' from reading your profile you had to go through alot to get there so I'm always happy to see someone get approved after a bunch of crap like that!! Hi Tema, Before answering I went and checked my mailbox to see if there was anything from you. Nope, nothing. Anyways as you said here nothing is of a too personal note so I can answer here. Besides if I posted it on my profile it's already NOT private at all. ~~Paternity~~ The girl has NOT yet went down to to start the test, I have talked with an Attorney regarding this and she told me that to protect my son whether it is his child or not, for him to go down and just tell them the situation, that way if that girl decides 15 years from now to proceed and get all the back child support, he wouldn't be liable, because he had opened the file downtown. We know the baby is my sons, but the girl and her family have moved twice since then and they have made no contact with us. The baby (Lexi) will be 2 in June and I have seen her just 3 times. My son, but just once. Only reason I got a couple more in was because, if they were claiming it was my blood and the time before I had seen her she looked like a ragamuffin, (if it's my blood, she better be at least clean, I raised my boys poor, but they still were clean) I bought her some outfits just cause and for Christmas a year ago. It's really hard to say "my" granddaughter, when I don't know her at all. Same with my son, it totally is ripping his heart apart, knowing, but not knowing or having any contact with her. He would do right by her, if given the chance. When I posted that information about Medicaid it was due to my research, Medicaid only says 40+ and medical necessity, however in my research I had not found anyone with a BMI lower than 50 that had been approved. I had even asked a few surgeons about this during my journey and they also had to say that, it had yet to happen. Now don't discourage though, my surgeon wondered how I got approved and on the first real attempt, as other than joint pain, sleep apnea. asthma, COPD and edema, I was using a wheelchair most the time and pretty much confined to home, oh and depression, but I had no BP problems, no gerd, no heart (but family history), no diabetes, etc... I told him it was probably because I had a big mouth and liked to stir the pot and that also I am probably covered under the Americans with Disability Act. **Also note, that I had other dealings with Medicaid and I am sure they almost knew me by first name.. Also remember that I posted that info a while back now, Medicaid might have a more refined way of approving people now. Anyways, EVERY Case is looked at individually, NOTHING is set in stone with Medicaid, what they say and do is 2 different things. They approved me, but yet another gal with a BMI in the 60's with more co-morbidities is still fighting them. Well at last I heard she was, I pray they have finally approved her. I initially wrote Medicaid a couple years back, when the one surgeon's office that said they had submitted for my approval for surgery, actually never did. They ended up closing their bariatric part of the practice, from there it just escalated, I "kept in touch" so to speak, regarding any changed they might make regarding the surgery. When I wrote to the Governor, Senator, Legislator's, State Rep's back in Sept, I was pretty well fed up with Medicaid and their antic's. The last straw was when they said I'd have to wait until Jan 05 to have my case reviewed (just to get the Dr's name changed on the approval), Ok now that would have been 9 months since my approval had been ok'd, they expire in 1 year from approval date, so I got mad, real mad. I went to this site (www).legislature.state.oh.us/ , put in my zip code and found the people to write to. Senator Theresa Fedor helped me, but she is my district Senator, you'd want to find who's yours. Thank you for saying that I've done well so far in my weight loss, I finally will get weighed again next week, so then I can finally update.
