Hi all, I do not post to the board a lot, but read it every day. I have a surgery date of 04/04 (this coming Monday), and would like you all to keep me in your prayers. I am really scared, but from what I read on the board this is normal. I am basically scared about the surgery itself. I have any my protein drinks, liquid vitamins, etc., already for when I come home from the hospital. I thought I would be able to come on here and just type away and say all kinds of stuff, but now that I am here, my brain isn't working. Any advice would be appreciated. And again, please remember me in your prayers. THANKS A BUNCH!!!!

Hi Bobo, I remember that week before like it was yesterday. Well it was only 8 months ago. lol. There are so many emotions and I never knew I had so many. I was scared, nervous, excited, mad, sad, and a million others.Say what you want anytime you want to . We are all here for you. Take a couple of your own pillows,a fan and make sure they have popsycles for you on the floor and you will be set. Your best friend. the morphine pump, should stay in your hand the whole time so you can enjoy the ride. You will be fine and keep us informed, Cindy My prayers are with you every step of the way

Bobo, Of course we will be here for you with good thoughts and prayers. It sounds like you are all prepared for everything when you get home.. Now we just have to get you there prepared spiritually. Just keep your thoughts on the end result and how wonderful its going to feel to be able walk without huffing and puffing and pain. When I get scared about my upcoming surgery I just visualize myself walking along a beautiful beach barefoot with the breeze in my face and the sun warming my skin.. Walking without the burden of all the extra weight and feeling no pain... You are gonna do just fine!!! Big Hugs, Laura

Keep us all posted! Shellie

I just got home from Lap RNY. I am 3 days out post-op. Wow what an experiance. Yes, your mind goes a little nuts with sooo many thoughts and feelings. This I am finding a little overwhelming. The main thing the doctor told me about eating is to make sure I get in enough fluids. Don't worry about the protein the first two weeks just keep the the fluids going. Everyone has a unique experiance with their surgery. Kind of like delivering a baby, each person is different. My experiance was amazing. The surgery went very well. No leaks or complications. The pain was rough the first 24 hours. It hurt like hell. The pain meds do work well. Once I was past the first 24 hours I became my old self again. Now I am dealing with discomfort in the abdoman area. It hurst to move in many positions. I walk slowly and gingerly. Using a bed at night to sleep is rough. I recommend using a recliner. I hope this helps you. From one newbie to another good luck and my prayers are with you. E-mail me if you want. I can't go anywhere for 2 weeks.
