I THINK I HAVE A SURGERY DATE!!!!!!

I got a letter from my ins co today and they have approved me for my surgery!!!! They told me my date was May 6, '05 but here's where I'm lost, I haven't met with the surgeon yet!!!! So, I'm hoping I'm the Susanne Smith that they have scheduled for 5/6/05!!! I've found out there are many Susanne Smith's out there in this world and I just know there's another one looking into this surgery at OSU in Columbus, Ohio and she's the one with the appointment and not me!!! Did any of you get a surgery date without meeting with your surgeon first??? I'm afriad to jinx myself telling everyone about the date and yet I can't stop myself from being so damned happy and want to tell everyone!!!!! I've got a call into my doc's office, but I have to wait until tomorrow to find out, darn it all. I am an impatient person in situations like this and I'm dieing to know!!! I wanna know now, not tomorrow!!!! (stomp my foot and make an ugly face). So, as far as I know, I HAVE A SURGERY DATE!!!!!!!!! TAAA DAAAAA!!!! Susie, My friend Paula got the same thing from our insurance company(Aetna), it said March 1st was when her surgery was scheduled. She received the letter on Feb 28th (go figure??). She had never met with the surgeons yet at OSU either. She did get to met with one of them the next monday March 7th and got a surgery date of March 29th...it would have been sooner, but OSU requires the 4 week Dietian classes before they will do surgery, she finishes her classes March 23rd, the wednesday before surgery!! Hope this helps.....Just call OSU tomorrow and tell them you got your letter, (they had her fax her letter to them the next day) then they gave her her appointment with the surgeon. Paula also told me if she wouldv'e had her 4 week classes completed, they couldv'e basically scheduled her surgery for the next day....but you have to do those darn classes first!! Do you have your classes done? Most people don't start them until they are approved, but I know of someone who did start before she was approved........who knows. Good Luck and congrats on your approval!! You will probably get a much sooner date then you got. But it depends on which surgeon you use. I guess Dr. Needlman is booked almost 6 months out, so my friend chose the other surgeon so she could have her surgery sooner.......Hold on, because as my friend said....everything goes so fast from here on out.....I"m sure you won't mind!! lol i have cigna dear heart, and i have not ment with my surgon either but i got my approval date for may 4-6 so i am goin with it, for now i posted it cause like u i was so darn happy so i will hope that we both get the dates we seek, without futher delay from ins best of luck let me know how it goes

I went through OSU and I got my appointment after I was done with all my requirements and had my approval. At OSU you usually do not get your surgery date until after you see the doctor. Maybe they gave your ins co a phoeny date just to get approval. I really hope that is you real date though, wouldn't that be cool!!! Cheryl
