When Can I go back to work?????

Does anyone know the time frame a to when I can go back to work? My docs said 6-8 weeks depending on my job. I thought 2 weeks at first. I work in residential care with MRDD consumers. They really do everything for themselves I do the cooking. Which takes me all day since my back and weight make me sit down between dicing carrots, and making meals. LOL Surprisingly I make healthy nutritious meals, sugar-free for them and they seem to be losing weight. But shoot!!!!! I didn;t do it for myself, or I wouldn't be needing this surgery, huh? LOL. Anyways!!! How long has most of you stayed off work till you went back. I recently went back to work in July of last year, was on total disability due to health reasons for the past 2 years. I'm in my 9 month work trial period according to social security guidelines, with three more months to go. Now i may be off 2 months from surgery. Just how long before I go back to work. And when I do I pray that I will be pain free and slimmer.

Hi Karen, I think that even your surgeon will tell you that everyone has different recovery times. Are you having open or lap? That would make a difference. A friend of mine was only off a week while I was off work for almost 7 weeks. Everyone heals differently. I wish you luck!
