It's really a matter of the Surgeon that you go to. We've started to use it in the past 3-4 months and the surgeries go much smoother. Erin

Hi Erin! Just curious...in what aspect do they go much smoother? I am an RN at OSU ( I work in OB Research ) but I have become very involved on a volunteer type basis with the wls patients as far as support, etc. I was wondering, if you don't mind getting kind of specific about it. You can emai me if you want. I am trying to learn as much as I can. Hope you don't mind me picking your brain a little! Nature of the beast, we research nurses like to ask questions and get that data! Val

The liquid diet depletes the glycogen stores of the liver shrinking it to a smaller size. If the liver is nice and small it's easier to maneuver around the abdominal cavity. It also lessens the chance for a conversion. Dr. C has shaved a lot of time off of his surgeries thanks to this diet being in place! Let me know if you have any other questions! Erin
