hair loss
I just had a question about hair loss. At 3 months out I starting losing hair, I know this is normal but how long does it last? Also, once it stops is that the end of the hairloss. I take all my vitamins & even Biotin for my hair. I also use nioxin shampoo & conditioner but nothing seems to help, it has been going on for 3 weeks now. Thanks for any replies to this.
I had the same problem and I feared of going bald. Hair loss is from lack of protein! I was taking vitamins everyday but was not getting enough protein ....I really notice the difference. I drink 2 protein drinks a day to get maxium protein in. Try this and I think you will notice a difference in about 2 weeks.
I am 13 months post op and if I don't get in enough protein ove a few days I notice my hair starts to fall out....so protein protein protein!!!

I am 6 months out and have been losing hair for the last 2 months. I have heard surgeons (and believe this myself) that it's not necessary the lack of protein (although protein is a huge deal) it's the rapid weight loss (actually Dr. Needleman just said this at OSU's latest support meeting). My surgeon said that they do testing at 6 months and protein levels are right where they want them to be and people still lose their hair. I think it's a combo of the anesthesia and rapid weight loss. There's my two cents

I've been losing hair for the past couple of weeks. I was told it can begin at about 3-4 months post-op. Hopefully, it will end after about a month. It's pretty disturbing! The stylist I go to said that this is perfectly normal following any major surgery. Her first question she asks a customer *****marks on losing hair is: Did you have surgery within the last couple of months? I take my vitamins religiously and monitor my protein intake scrupulously, still I began to lose hair. Another lady I work with who had WLS ate poorly and didn't take her vitamins and shed not one follicle more than normal. Stinks, doesn't it? Actually, I've really gotten into wearing hairpieces lately and get tons of compliments on how cute they look. No one has a clue about my hair loss unless I mention it, although I swear I see a little more scalp and a wider part everyday!!
