So depressed
I have never writen on here before, because I wanted to make sure surgery was approved first, I didn't want to get my hopes up to be let down. Well, that happeded anyway. My surgery was approved on DEC 28, and my insurance changed on Jan 1, and the new company doesn't cover surgery. I've cried everyday. I know there are people out here who have experienced disapointed too. I have lost hope, every effort I have ever made to lose weight has made me fatter. I can't stop crying, any have any words of hope?
Paula,
This may not be an option for you but I'll give it to you anyway. When I was turned down with my old insurance I looked in to dumping my employers insurance just for myself and pay out of pocket for insurance that does cover surgery. I had planned on keeping the insurance only for one year to get me through recovery and any poss. complications. It was going to be a little more expensive but I figured I'm worth it. And look at how much I would be saving on food. (hahaha) Hope this gives you a little ray of hope that there is a way. If you need any help looking in to these things please email me directly.
May GOD Bless you today
Tammy,
Thank you for the information. I had asked about purchasing an individual policy and the doctors office said that the insurance would not cover it since I would not have "paid in" much. They said I would have to have the policy for a few years before the would pay. I happy to see that it worked for you, and maybe it is worth trying for me too. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you taking time to help. I'll certainly email you if I find anything else out.
God bless,
Paula
Have you talked to your employer about this??? They are the ones who set up the policies. Since you were approved before they just might go ahead and tell your new insurance to pay also.
Several of us from here are going to meet at Starbucks up by the Dayton Mall on Suturaday at 11am. Try to join us and maybe we'll come up with some other suggestions.
I also had Dr.Hadley she's the BEST!!!!!!

dear Paula,
I know exactly how you feel. I have been going through the screening process at OSU since last January. I was accepted by OSU in Aug. and have been fighting my insurance company ever since. I never dreamed I'd be in 2005 with out the surgery. I have hired an attorny and am taking action against the company....especially since one of my co-workers (with the same policy etc) had her surgery Nov. 18.
I know you feel as if it is a worthless battle, but please try to not give up. Give yourself some time to mourn and feel as disappointed as you are. You have a right to be devastated. Then try to see what options there are for self-pay.
Ohio State requires all money up front, so if I have go the self-pay route I will have to do so at a different facility; but I am willing to do that if it is necessary. i WILL have the surgery. I just don't know when.
Please lean on friends to help you do research or whatever....you deserve to have the surgery...always remember that.
