Bad Breath!

I had surgery 12-16 and everything is going great not unless you count the fact that I can hardly stand to be near me!!! My breath would knock out a person at 10 feet? What should I do? I walked into the kitchen tonight and told my husband that something smelled funny and he said he couldn't smell anything,,,, then I breathed in my hand!!! OMG it was me!! Help Judy

Oh Judy.... I hate to tell you this, but there isn't much you can do...ride it out. Mine smelled so bad my husband asked me if I had farted one night while we were watching tv in bed!!! OMG!!! But, you know what they say about paybacks... I got him back when he had surgery! One good thing is that it is a sign that your body is doing what we want it to do after surgery. The bad breath is from being in ketoacidosis. You are breaking it down girlfriend! You can do the mints and gum, just to keep it at bay, but it won't really take it away. Yes, it does go away but sometimes it can hang around for a couple of months....sorry, I know you don't want to hear that. I guess you can take comfort in knowing that you are not alone, those of us that have had surgery have been there done it too, and can tell you it will go away. Just keep telling yourself that no matter how stinky it is, your body is doing the right thing.... BIG HUG! Val

Ouch! That is a big issue at my house. When I was on the Atkins diet, I got that bad breath thing. My husband quit sleeping with me! He thought that I had a rotten tooth. I knew it was the diet. I quit the diet and it went away. I don't know how to tell him we're going to have to go through this again when I get banded. I heard that there was some kind of chorophyll pills that you can take. I have no idea if they work or where to get them.
