???Question of the Day???
How much food do you still put on your plate?
I am in a hotel in Dallas, waiting on time to go back to the airport so that I can go home finally and I decided to go downstairs and make a tray for breakfast and bring it back to my room. I get back to my room and look down at the tray and I can't believe all the food I brought up here. What was I thinking. I did the same thing the other day at a cafeteria type restaurant we went to. I had a million different things on my tray. All of which I could only take a few bites of. Why am I doing that? Cheryl
I do pretty well with portion sizes, but sometimes I do overdo it. Once in a while my family likes to go to a buffett. I will get a bunch of salad and dive in, then think, "Gee, was I planning on having anything else?" I think it is an old habit that is in our subconscious mind - got to be filled up, ya' know? Our subconscious forgets we have a smaller gas tank!
On the other hand, I have been at dinner buffett meetings, and intentionally put small amounts on my plate. Boy, do you get the looks from everyone else at the table, with their plates filled up and food piled on! I can only hope they are feeling guilty for eating probably way more than they need to (but, hey, it's free!)
I don't think you are doing it to sabotage yourself - just force of habit, and having to be really conscious of what you are doing. You probably added stuff on and were thinking about other things at the same time.
