Hi everyone. I haven't been on as much as I would like to but I thought it would be fun to see what you are all doing for Thanksgiving. It is fast approaching. For all of you post-ops, how has this holiday changed for you. Have you instituted some new traditions you would like to pass on to us others? Do you have a new recipe that is appropriate for the post-op diet that you care to share? I will be celebrating with My hubbie and kids and a few friends. I plan to have one last hurrah with the cornbread dressing since it is most assuredly a no no after surgery. The 29th is coming fast and I am trying my best to be prepared for after. Is anyone REALLY ever ready to do this surgery? I am excited but definitely nervous too. Have a great night! Hugs ~~jaimee

Cheryl, I'm glad you're doing so well. That is very encouraging to hear. Was your's Laporoscopic? I am planning for Lap if there isn't too much scar tissue from my Gallbladder surgery. How is the liquids/protien going? Are you doing okay with getting it all in? I think I have had way too much time to think about this. I am trying to stay busy and focus on other things, but it sure isn't easy. It's nice to have everyone on here be so supportive. I would be completely off the deep end if it wasn't for all of you keeping me focused and rational. LOL! Hugs, Jaimee

hey jaimee mine was open. i think i'm doing ok with the protien. i found an unflovard(sp) at gnc that is pretty good. i add it to every thing i eat. i added it to my oatmeal yesterday, and also applesauce, my slim-fast drinks and to my mashed potatoes last night. i also had my gallbladder taken out and the scar tissue was the reason for the open. the good news about that was that dr. cook found 2 small herinas in there and fixed them at the same time . when he told me that i told him "there goes my tt". he then told me to call him when i'm ready for that and he would see what he could do..lol let me know if you have any questions cheryl open rny 11-05-04 -17 lbs

All the thinking now and worring does not help. You really have to take one day at a time. People have told me that my whole life but it really didnt mean much until this. It will come and go so fast you wont even believe it. I cant believe I am 4 months out already. 68 lbs and 49 to go. It really goes fast. You are going to be wonderful and it will all go well. Lots of prayers and thoughts are coming your way,Love Cindy

I am 2 years out, and my family has not had surgery! (Well, my husband has). So I fix turkey, gravy, mashed potatos, mac and cheese (the real kind - not from a box) yeast rolls, green beans, fruit salad, cranberry orange relish, cornbread dressing, pumpkin ice cream pie - the whole nine yards! The difference is - I don't eat all of that! I may have a spoonful of dressing, but probably concentrate on turkey and green beans. We have a small family - the four of us, my mom and my older son's friend coming from Canada - so I don't fix a big turkey - usually only a turkey breast. Otherwise, we would have turkey left over forever. (The dogs would be fine with that, I'm sure!) No new traditions, no new recipes since I've had surgery. Pretty boring, but pretty normal! Good luck with your upcoming surgery! Take care, Sue

My daughter is having it for me this year. I am going to have a bite of everything if I can get it down.

Jaimee, With me being almost 4 years out, what I do on Thanksgiving, is still fill my plate. However, my mother always has the Reynolds Wrap handy, because she knows I will be taking my plate home. My family is awesome when it comes to the desserts though. They always make something sugar free for me. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Love, Sandy
