Big Setback Sorry, It's a long one
I am so upset. I have been working so hard to be able to meet the surgeon. I have been very determined to stick to the diet given to me by the endocrinologist. He told me I have to get under 400 pounds to meet the surgeon.(When I met him on June 30,2004. I was 476.6). I thought this would take forever. Then after getting to 413 I was excited to hear from the nutritionist I only need to lose another 2 pounds.(On September 27.) I was looking forward with great anticipation to seeing the doctor on Friday and getting an appointment with the surgeon. But My body decided differently. I started having severe pains in my stomach last Thursday. I went to the doctor on Monday. She said it may be your gall bladder. Come for a saunogram on Wed. or Fri. I said "make it Wed. I'm going to Cleveland on Fri." She said okay. They told me no food or drink after midnight on Tuesday. I was scheduled for the test at 1:00pm. By the time I got there I could not stand up very well. The room was spinning. An older lady helped me sit down and called for some help. The x-ray tech came took one look at me and went to get the doctor. She said. I'm calling an ambulance you are going to the hospital. I said "no I have to go to Cleveland." She said "You can go later." When I got to the hospital my blood pressure was 94 over 65. Needless to say I was admitted and had to change my appointments. WHAT A BUMMER. Now the soonest I can see the dr. is Dec.23.
They did alot of tests and found a hernia that may be causing an obstruction in my small intestine or bowels. Which means I may need surgery. I wish I could postpone that until I have the bypass and take care of both problems at the same time. Well, we'll just have to see.
But Alas, all is not bad news. When they said I had to be admitted I asked if they had a large scale that I can get weighed on. They said yes. So before I went to my bed I got on the scale. I was very pleased when thre nurse told me 385.3 I said Yippee!!. The nurse said "Is that good?" I said "Yes, I lost 28 more pounds. That is 91 since I went on this very strict diet in June and 115 pounds since I started walking and watching what I was eating in March. GEE WHAT MORE CAN I DO BEFORE DECEMBER 23?
it's funny how we can be so focused on one thing and not see the signs of another-thank goodness they DID rush you to hospital-could have been much worse if you were struck by pain , etc, whenhome alone or something!
i know that waiting is the hardest part of the process but it will be worth it for you!!!!
Thank You to all of you. I know that It was best that they catch this now. But I am human and waiting is not easy. Thank You All for the prayers. It is only through God's help that I have been able to do this whole process. I know that God is with me and He will bring me through. I know that everything will work together in His Time. "But Lord, could you please step it up a little." Becky D.

You poor dear. How frustrating it is when we have to hurry-up and wait some more. I just know it will all work out in the right timing for you. Keep your chin up and your eye on the prize! Great job on the weightloss!!! You will be down even more by the time your surgery rolls around. You are headed to goal even now.
Hugs and prayers,
Jaimee
