Well I'm regaining energy and had a two-day project replacing my water heater at home. I kind of over did it, work all day and then come home and work till 11:00 or 12:00 am at night. Non-stop as a person I ways been. Well the first night was rough and ended up taking a cold shower that night, second night after work I got the water heater working but there was a manufactory problem with it so I started out with a nice warm shower and ended up with finishing with a cold shower, Saturday I made calls and was inform the unit was broken and Saturday I left work early to get a new one and spent hours of rerouting the plumbing for the new ho****er tank. I works prefect, no leaks and I was dead to the word. So Sunday was my day off to recover, but that did not last long I needed to do something. From all the fun I had this week I drop some more pounds. And as an Executive Chef I work long hours and when I was working today one of my old uniforms that I grew out of the pants were slowly creeping down, I looked like some of these teenagers running around with your pants down to the hips, I had my hand full when this happen so it is a good feeling to go back into stuff like new that I crew out of. Now it is to a point people do not recognize me. People are saying I'm loosing to fast but I feel find, just can't deal with certain foods and smells

Hi Daniel, although I'm sorry you had the frustration of installing the water heater (home improvements gone bad just drive me crazy), I'm excited that after 2 months you were feeling well enough to even try it. I am a pre-op and it's easy to imagine being a practical invalid for months and months after surgery, so it's great to see post-ops back to the day to day stuff we have always dealt with. I know once I have the surgery my life will change, but it's hard to even comprehend how much it will change. Some may underestimate the changes that will need to be made, but I'm the type to overestimate the changes that need to be made. Either way, thanks for the update. Knowing you are a chef amazes me. To think you can be around food so much after having this surgery is quite impressive. Also, isn't it funny that people are now saying you are losing too fast. I guess we can never do it "right" for some people. Keep up the good work! Denise

If people are saying you are losing too fast, may I ask what your two month total is? Sounds like you are doing well. I also don't see how you can be a chef and be around all that food without temptations, but I guess I will understand once I"m post-op. I got quite a chuckle out of the part when you said your pants were creeping down and your hands were full! Did this happen in the middle of a busy restaurant kitchen? Guess you better buy some nice boxers just in case they creep all the way south next time. You can be like the hip-hop guys! It's nice for clothes to start being too big, though, isn't it? Best wishes for your continued success. Nancy from Ohio

hey daniel-i agree that maybe you should buy some nice boxers in case your pants go south again! that down to the hips look is not good! hey- i am curious- you mentioned that some foods and smells don't agree--anything in particular? and is it just being around them or things that you can no longer eat?? i had some trouble with a few scents when i was early out but not so much now--what kind of foods are served in your workplace? if you feel good and are healthy -your blood work and labs and energy level etc- don't worry about people saying that you are losing too quickly-

Hi Margo I loved cheeses especially swiss cheese but I can't handle the flavor, BBQ Sauce, anything with BBQ Sauce, garlic or onion, just the smell makes me have dry heeveeess, Fry foods especially old grease blaaa!!!!! At my work place we do home style cooking, My residents are 75 - 103 of age and they have their favorites. The retirement home I work for is the Assist. Living & Nursing unit, very well off residents. My kitchen do a varity of foods from Meatloaf, Prime Rib, lamb, all types of seafood, lobster, shrimp, orange roughy, poultry, pork. From hotdogs to casseroles we do 3 meals a day 365. I read alot of cook books and recipes and meet with the residents to get ideas. The taste of home is what I recieve from my residents alot. I love shrimp, scallops & muscles and I'm still able to eat them but 1-2 pieces is a meal to me now, never thought it would ever be this way. I dislike deep fried food even more now cause of the smell. yack!! Well my blood lab work is all normal and energy is up & down at times. Just not drinking enough of liquids like I should... Well take care and excuse my typing having pc problems tonight Thanks Dan O

i've become much more sensitive to smells-like the fried food smell and the heavy grease- uck! i work in a bank and we have several restaurants as clients--their employees cash their checks there and they come in for change orders - and the grease smell- it hangs on their clothes- and the onions- i like onions and can eat them now but couldn't at first- as for cheese--maybe that will change for you- i can do cheeses but i understand about the smell--much of that may change as you get farther out! as for tyhe shrimps making a small meal--that is the key- if you are able to eat them it is good protein--and a few here and there is good --it helps you to not overeat--you are doing great except you really do need to make sure to get you water in --it will make you feel very tired if you don't!
