Sorry guys, but I just need to vent a little. I have been pursuing WLS for almost two years and really got started in June when I went to the educational forum at Mt. Carmel. I originally had started the program at OSU but my husband's insurance dictates that I have it done at Mt. Carmel. That is OK with me, as I'm told Dr. Price is a very fine surgeon. It's his office practice that is making me crazy!!!!!!!! I know this is a long process, but I thought I'd done everything by the book and I felt that I was being sufficiently patient. I sent my $300.00 in with my signed paperwork back in July and since then, I have been waiting as I ticked off each required appointment. Their office has had my medical and diet history for months now, and finally, they also have my psych eval, my cardiac clearance and the evaluation from the bariatric counselor. So I called to get an update. I was certain I'd be getting an appointment soon and then, finally, a surgery date! But they called me Friday and said my diet history was not adequate. My PCP said that it was - and he's referred others to this program. And if they had told me that when I first sent it to them, I could have been working on that while I was having all my other evaluations. Don't these people realize what it's like to be waiting? They are always polite - but it just seems kind of heartless to put people through this and then tell them they have to wait longer. I have been feeling so good lately because I felt like I was finally moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't want to come across as feeling sorry for myself, but you guys are the only ones who understand just how frustrating all this waiting and all these roadblocks are. Now I am back to feeling like this is an unattainable goal.

I completely understand. This is the first time that I have logged on in months because I have given up hope on the surgery. My PCP had me on a diet plan that the insurance said was not good enough. My Obesity Law is supposed to be looking at my case. They sent me a release of information to talk to my PCP. However, I was just informed that my PCP is moving and that there is nothing more he can do. He will be done practicing here before Obesity Law has a chance to contact his office. They are out of practice Friday, a weeks notice. The doctor that he is referring people to doesn't believe in WLS. I have been told for a year that the surgery is medically necessary and I just have to follow the diet plan for six months. Now we are a year later and no change. I have given up. The Baric Clinic called today and asked if I still wanted the surgery persued by Obesity Law. Of course I never get a person so I called and left the situation on someone's voice mail. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

WOW! And I thought I was frustrated. Sounds like you've really been given the run around. Before your PCP closes up shop, you should make sure you get a copy of your entire chart so you have that info if you need it later. Try calling your insurance plan and asking for a case manager and make them spell out EXACTLY what was lacking in your diet history. It sounds like they are just trying to throw up a roadblock for you. Hang in there. I hope it all works out for you eventually Nancy
