how FAT is TOO fat?
hey everyone, i'm a little steamed this am. i was talking to a group of ladies and the subject of wls came up. when i told them that i have a date for my surgeon they looked at me and said ..your not that fat.
this is not the first time this has been said . i told them that if they wanted my fat when i lost it then they could tell me how fat too fat is. i'm 5'6" and 260lbs. thanks for letting me vent

Sounds like a reasonable come back. I bet they bout keeled over when you said that! LOL! It is very frustrating to have someone say that to you, isn't it? I had the school librarian say that to me and I told her how much I weigh. She got a really shocked look on her face and said "well, if you feel that's what you need to do then best of luck to you." no more critical comments from her after that. Some of us carry the weight well. A 5'7" I carry my weight very evenly and most people are shocked when I share what I weigh (not that I wear a sign or anything, but if they act as if they don't think I need the surgery, usually sharing my weight with them shuts them up very quickly)
Have a great rest-of-the-week!
Hugs,
Jaimee

Great comeback! I've got the same problem with my friends. I think they want me to stay fat so they can feel superior. Go for it (wls) and kick their butts. I plan on getting an appointment as soon as I get back from vacation. This will be the first vacation that I don't have to feel guilty for eating. I'm on the border and MUST maintain my weight ;)
Good Luck!
Cathy
I remember reading another response to this same comment. Only the person was in pre-op, waiting to go to surgery, and was told by the person starting her IV that "she wasn't that fat." The comeback - "Then perhaps you wouldn't mind giving me a piggyback ride down to surgery." I thought that was great!
