Just Beginning Journey

Hi everyone~~ I just completed my diet history and submitted to Dr. Fallang's office. I have Benesight with a UHC PPO. Anyone have any experience with them?? My husband and I are both having the surgery and I can't wait to have my life back!! Any advice that anyone has for me would be greatly appreciated!! Jennifer

I would start with the insurance company. Call them and ask them specifically what their guidelines are for Gastric Bypass. Ask them if your policy covers it and ask if they will be your casemanager through the whole process, so you only talk to one person. There is usually test, stress, sleep apnea, psyc eval, ect that you must obtain prior. Ususally your DR will order these. Good Luck to you and your husband Jackie C RYN 11/12/04

Jennifer, I do not know the doctor. I do have UHC and they were great. I was approved quickly and had no trouble with them. Best of luck to you and your husband. Keep us posted on your progress. Welcome to the board.

I also have UHC and was approved in days! Course there were numerous things that I had to do before I could even submit and that took several months. I agree with Jackie. Check with your employer to make sure that they don't have an exclusion in their policy and whatever you do, make sure that the surgeon you choose is in network. Mine was held up over a month because the surgeon that I had orginally chosen was out of network. Had I gone to Dr Curry from day 1 my surgery would have been done now.
