Cpap
Hello, new to the boards. Waiting on insurance approval. Surgeon is Dr David Fischer - insurance is Anthem.
I wasn't diagnosed with sleep apnea, don't stop breathing - but a lesser form that arouses the brain without awaking. At first the sleep disorder doctor said when I lost 20 lbs it would go away and I wouldn't need to do anything else. When I reminded him of the surgery he said I'd have to have the cpap machine. Is this to help get the insurance approval? Will I HAVE to have the CPAP for surgery? I plan to ask the Dr next visit - but was wondering if anyone here had any experience with this?
Hi I also do not have sleep apena, but something else where my oxygen level drops around 19 times per hr. only down to 85, but I am still required to wear the cpap before surgery for 6 weeks. My pressure on the machine is set pretty low though. All drs. are different, my sleep dr. also was not putting me on the machine until he realized about the surgery and the surgeon sending me to him. It's really not all that bad though, they have like 15 different masks to use also so if one does not suit you ask for another until you find one that is comfortable enough. Good luck to you on your journey.
