My lap rny surgery was 9/1. So far to date I am 19lbs closer to being a healthier person. I am trying to be the compliant patient and staying to my liquid diet BUT I am getting burned out with pudding, yogurt, etc. Two more weeks before I see the Dr for approval to introduce food. I also am not sure if the weight is coming off like it should. Not sure if I am taking in enough, I know that I am struggling to get the water in. I take my nightly walk of 1.2 miles but not sure what else to do to keep the weight coming off. Any advice or encouraging words would be most helpful!! Thanks, Michele

Michele, It is so hard this beginning stage. I remember and feel for you. You are doing great. 19 pounds is great. How are you feeling health wise? Is your energy coming back? Keep at it. You will be so excited when you weigh in at the doctor's office and they tell you how great you are doing. Don't give up. If you are feeling concerned about anything call the doctor's office and speak to a nutritionist. Use all of your support. It is such a great opportunity. It is just so hard in the beginning. Best of luck on your journey. Deb

I know only too well how burnt out you can get at this point! I got sick of them too! Your weight loss sounds pretty appropriate for three weeks out. One thing I've heard is that a lot of people hit a plateau around 3 weeks (mine hit a little later at 5 weeks), so be prepared for this -- it's only temporary! If your doctor's eating protocol allows it, here's a few ideas for some other foods. You want to try as hard as you can to get in the required daily grams of protein (my range was 50-60 grams) -- this will also help your weight loss. When I was frustrated like you, I tried: * vegetarian refried beans (thinned down with a little water and a little salsa added), with about a T. of grated 2% cheddar cheese on top. Nuke it until mixture is warmed through. * Low-fat, low-sugar spaghetti sauce (I like Newman's Own Basil and Tomato) with cooked chicken pureed in. Top with low-fat ricotta and nuke it on until mixture is warmed through. For both of these, I added a half-scoop of Unjury unflavored protein to boost the protein up a little more. If you do this, mix in the protein powder well before topping with the cheese and only microwave it on medium heat for as little time as possible so it doesn't break down the protein powder. Good luck to you! BTW, you're doing great on your walking! I only wish I was as consistent! Good job!
