Insurance Woes

I know there has been alot of you that have had this problem. I called again to UHC. They told me that the surgery is not covered, but the nutritional classes are. I got so depressed.. could not sleep last night. I meet for my first consultation this week with surgeron and counselor at the Barix Center in Columbus. My PCP is supporting me on this. I know that no official paperwork has been sent to my insurance company. I really want this surgery... I want to be there for my kids.. I want to enjoy the rest of my life being healthy. How can they deny people the right to be healthy? Oh well.... Everybody have a great weekend. Talk to you soon. Julie

Julie, What does their policy say specifically? It there an outright exclusion for all weight loss coverage? Does it just say no surgical treatment for weight loss or does it say not coverage for obesity related illness? Morbid Obesity is considered different from just obesityaccording to federal standards. Look over the fine print. My insurance basically has an exclusion too except when medically necessary and I had to prove it. Maybe we can help you find a loop hole. Don't give up just yet. Hi Julie, I ditto Jaimee's remarks. Don't give up. Get all the info they ask for and send it in. Barix is very good at helping you fill out paperwork and getting all the necessary information together. They have people who are experts at getting this approved by even the toughest companies.
