I finally made the decision and called my insurance company (Humana HMO self-funded solutions) and they told me surgery is not covered and neither is any other weight loss options. Can anyone help and give me some ideas

My suggestion would be to have your doctor send a letter and explain that you have a diease. Also you may want to contact a lawyer, usually your first visit is free. I would question why your insurance would want to pay for all the co-morbity problems you have or will have and not pay for this. Hope this helps! Julie

Carolyn, Don't give up! I have Humana HMO self-funded solutions insurance also, thru Ford Motor Company and my surgery was covered in full. It's probably something that was excluded by your employer. I hear there are ways around that, too. But, I am not sure how to go about it. I bet SOMEONE on this site knows what to do next! Good luck!! KarenB

I had the same problem but with plastic surgery. Original surgery was covered but the policy was changed. I am looking for a different job
