???question of the day???
Hello Friends! Are you all having a good day today? I am way too sleepy. I can't seem to wake up. Maybe 4 hours of sleep has something to do with that??!!! So I decided to be creative today and come up with something a little different. I have been in touch with several support groups for WLS and they all seem to be wonderful and supportive. So here's the question: What is it about your particular support group that makes it a success? If you can, please give your top 3 reasons.
This is a hard one for me to personally answer. I have really had to think about it. So far, since I use this website as my primary source of support, I would have to say that having people respond to my questions (or sometimes even what I share in my profile) has made the difference. I know that I will always get a reply when I have a concern or need a question answered. I also think accountability is important. I see that people participate in the "what did you eat?" on the main message board and I think this is very positive because it challenges us to make good food choices. In the past 9 mo. I have altered my eating drastically and for the most part it has been a subconscious thing. Being able to be myself and not get attacked for expressing my feelings has also been key for me. A support group needs to be a safe place to fail and share your feelings. Peer pressure can be very positive in a support group environment.
I hope you all have a sunshiny day (even if it is yucky outside)
